Flat or matte reflects almost nothing. It hides surface imperfection better than anything else and it marks when wiped, because the open surface holds dirt.
Eggshell sits a few gloss units above flat with a closed surface. It takes a wipe, and it is the default for living rooms and bedrooms for that reason.

Why sheen makes a wall show its flaws

Scrub resistance is a cycle count
Washability sounds like a property and it is measured as a number. A laboratory test runs a weighted abrasive pad back and forth across a painted panel and counts the cycles until the film fails.
That figure separates a cheap eggshell from an expensive one far better than the sheen name does, and a premium flat can outperform a budget satin.
Manufacturers rarely print the cycle count on consumer tins, and where a maker describes a paint as scrubbable rather than washable, that usually reflects the higher test.
Two practical notes. New paint needs time to cure before it can take a scrub, frequently 2 to 4 weeks. And washing works best with a soft cloth and plain water, because detergents dull a sheen unevenly and leave a patch that is more visible than the mark was.

One-coat claims and what they assume
A one-coat claim assumes a similar colour underneath, a properly primed surface, and generous application. Change any of those and it becomes two coats.
