This page explains how RSD Black Friday 2026 works, from Record Store Day’s own pages, and names 2 turntables and a stand for the records you bring home, as How we choose describes. Nothing here was handled or tested.

At a glance

RSD Black Friday is Friday 27 November 2026

Independent record shops get 2 big days a year: a Saturday in April, and the day after US Thanksgiving. This year the second one falls on the 27th. Big-box Black Friday deals start weeks earlier. The releases are records pressed for the day and sent only to the shops taking part. Record Store Day says the Black Friday list is shorter than April’s by design.

The 2026 release list is already live

Record Store Day published the RSD Black Friday 2026 list on its own site, so you can plan before the day. Mark the titles you want, then call or check the sites of 2 or 3 nearby stores to ask which they expect.

Only independent record stores sell it, with no pre-orders

The releases are sold at participating independent record stores, not at chain retailers. Record Store Day’s own answer to “are there pre-orders?” is “Nope”, so the record goes to whoever is in the shop on the day. To find a store, use “Show record stores near me” on recordstoreday.com, and look for the small P beside a name, which means that store has signed Record Store Day’s Pledge.

Online sales start no earlier than Saturday 28 November

Each store chooses whether to sell its leftover RSD Black Friday records on its own website. The earliest a US store may do so is the morning of Saturday 28 November, the day after. So the Friday belongs to the people in the shop.
