Ocarina of Time comes out on 5 November 2026

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time launches on Thursday, 5 November 2026, exclusively on Switch 2. Nintendo’s store lists the digital edition at $59.99, open for pre-order and pre-load now. It does not run on the original Switch.

Nintendo describes it as built from the ground up for Switch 2, with new visuals, orchestral music, voice acting and longer cutscenes. The controls and camera are modernised. The Fairy Bow and the Hookshot can be aimed with buttons or with motion controls, set in the Options menu.

Amazon lists the boxed copy under Ocarina of Time for Switch 2. IGN reported on 31 October that Amazon’s pre-order deal on it ends on release day.

Play the ocarina yourself, by humming or with Nintendo’s own

The songs Link plays open paths and turn day into night, and you can perform them. Nintendo says you can use the buttons, hum, or play a real instrument into the Switch 2 microphone.

The Electric Ocarina also has a volume dial and a headphone jack, so a late-night session needn’t wake the house.

The Zelda Switch 2 is $519.99 and sold out

Nintendo’s Switch 2 Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Edition has a black-and-gold dock with the Triforce on the front, and green-and-gold Joy-Con 2. It is $519.99 on Nintendo’s store, sold out there on 1 November, and the game is not included.

The standard console plays the game identically. Nintendo’s Switch 2 bundle with Mario Kart World adds a second game instead of the Zelda styling.

The game needs 27 GB, so check your space first

Nintendo estimates the download at 27 GB. A Switch 2 has 256GB built in, part of it taken by the system, so most owners have room. If yours is full, a SanDisk microSD Express card adds 512GB. Switch 2 runs games only from microSD Express, not from an older microSD card.

The new amiibo have 2 different dates

Nintendo is releasing Young Link and Young Zelda amiibo in an Ocarina of Time series. Tapping them in the game unlocks masks styled like retro graphics, and any older Zelda amiibo gives in-game extras. Nintendo’s store lists both figures for 3 December, while the game’s own page says they arrive in 2027. This page will be updated when Nintendo settles it.

What to play after it

Breath of the Wild is the natural next Zelda, and Tears of the Kingdom is its sequel, both in Switch 2 Editions. Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment turns Hyrule into a fast action game. November’s other big launch is on PS5 and Xbox: GTA 6’s release date and editions.
