Plants do not respond to brightness. They respond to the number of photons in the 400 to 700 nanometre band landing on a surface, which is measured as PPFD in micromoles per square metre per second.

Watts and lumens are the wrong units
Watts measure electricity drawn, not light produced. A 650-watt fixture with efficient diodes can deliver more usable photons than a 1,000-watt one with poor ones, which makes wattage a bill rather than a specification.
Equivalent watts is worse. It has no defined test behind it, and a listing reading 60W equals 350W is comparing against an unnamed reference nobody can check.
Lumens and lux weight light by human eye sensitivity, which peaks in the green that plants reflect. A figure tuned to the wavelengths a leaf throws away is not a growing measurement.
PAR names the useful waveband and is often used loosely. The measurement you want inside that band is PPFD, at a stated distance.

DLI is the number that decides growth
PPFD is an instantaneous rate. What a plant actually accumulates is the daily light integral, and the formula is simple: PPFD multiplied by hours of light multiplied by 0.0036.
So 300 micromoles for 16 hours gives a DLI of about 17. Two hundred micromoles for 12 hours gives about 8.6. The same fixture produces half the daily light depending on how long you run it.
Low-light houseplants are content around a DLI of 4 to 6.
Most houseplants do well between 6 and 12.
Seedlings want roughly 6 to 16, from a PPFD commonly cited at 100 to 300 micromoles rising toward transplant.
Fruiting plants need far more, and that is where the serious fixtures earn their price.
Running a modest light for longer is a legitimate way to hit a DLI target, up to the point where the plant needs darkness.

The practical method is to move the light rather than to buy a different one. Raise it if leaves bleach or curl, lower it if stems stretch and lean.
