A travel mug that seals is the safest gift for one colleague
A coworker gift has to suit someone you know only from 9 to 5, and nearly every office worker carries a drink. The Contigo West Loop holds 16 oz, and its AUTOSEAL lid closes between sips, so it can go in a bag. Owners praise how long it keeps coffee hot, that it does not leak and that it cleans easily. The recurring complaint is a lid that breaks within months.

Burt’s Bees Hand Salve is a small gift that gets used all winter
Office gift exchanges usually set a low spending limit, and a small useful thing beats a novelty. Burt’s Bees Hand Salve is a 3 oz tin of beeswax balm. Owners use it on dry, cracked skin, report it working overnight and say a tin lasts about a year; how quickly it absorbs varies. Heated offices in January are where it earns its place.

A tea or coffee sampler is the gift for a whole team
When the gift is from you to everyone, the kitchen is the place to put it. The Taylors of Harrogate Green & Herbal sampler holds 48 bags, and owners praise the variety, the unusual blends and the box itself; the price divides them. The Atlas Coffee Club sampler is 8 bags of ground coffee from different countries, which owners find fresh and flavourful, though some found the bags smaller than expected.

What lost: candles, perfume and anything with a joke on it
Scent is personal, so candles and perfume left the list: a coworker may be sensitive to it, and a shared office makes that everyone’s problem. Joke mugs and slogan gifts depend on knowing someone’s humour better than most colleagues do. For the office game rather than a gift, Secret Santa gifts and the white elephant rules have their own pages, and hostess gifts covers the party invitation that sometimes follows.
