The Fire HD 10 is a 1080p streaming tablet with a 13-hour battery
The 13th-generation Fire HD 10 has a 10.1-inch 1920 x 1200 screen at 224 pixels per inch, under aluminosilicate glass. Amazon rates the battery at up to 13 hours of reading, browsing and video, and the tablet weighs 15.29 oz.
Inside is an octa-core processor with 2 Cortex-A76 cores, and 3 or 4 GB of RAM depending on the model. Amazon says it is 25% faster than the previous generation. Storage is 32 or 64 GB, with a microSD slot that takes cards up to 1 TB.

The Fire HD 8 keeps the 13-hour battery on an 8-inch 1280 x 800 screen, at 11.88 oz. The Fire Max 11 moves up to an 11-inch 2000 x 1200 screen, 4 GB of RAM, 8 MP cameras front and back and up to 14 hours of battery.

The older 2021 Fire HD 10 still carries the bigger rating
The 11th-generation Fire HD 10 from 2021 is still listed, at 4.6 across 127,212 ratings. Those ratings belong to a slower tablet: 3 GB of RAM, a 12-hour battery and 720p video from 2 MP and 5 MP cameras.
The 2023 model adds 5 MP cameras front and rear with 1080p video, and Amazon’s 25% speed claim. For a new purchase, buy the 13th generation. The 2021 Fire HD 10 makes sense only as a like-for-like replacement.
The iPad does schoolwork and drawing the Fire cannot
Apple’s 11-inch iPad rates 4.7 across 28,793 ratings. It has the A16 chip, a 2360 x 1640 screen, 128 GB of storage to start, 12 MP cameras, Touch ID and the full App Store.
